Humewood Hotel Hotel / Lodge accommodation in Humewood Eastern Cape

Description

Known as the “Friendliest Hotel in the Friendly City” for good reason. The Humewood Hotel is and has been an icon on the Port Elizabeth beach front for many years. This privately owned and managed establishment sets the standard for personalised service excellence. When you enter our front door you will be transformed into a friendly, relaxed and welcoming “Home from Home” experience.

Situated on the Port Elizabeth beach front across the road from arguably one of South Africa’s most pristine beaches, the Blue Flagged Kings Beach, and within easy reach of the entire city (and all of it’s attractions) and with one of the best views of Algoa Bay is a haven of tranquillity and friendliness. Why not come and experience the fourth best coastal climate worldwide and the coastal city with the most daylight hours in the world?

Whatever you decide to do, the Humewood Hotel is close to all the fabulous historical attractions of the settler city of Port Elizabeth, which has become a premier resort destination for the discerning holiday maker.

From your well appointed bedroom you are able to look out over the Indian Ocean where centuries ago Portuguese Navigators conducted their daring voyages of discovery and today’s adventurers sail their wind surfers, kite surfers, surf boards and yachts, launching from a myriad of Blue Flagged beaches, in the protected waters of the fabulous Algoa Bay. It’s all out there waiting to be discovered and enjoyed.

After a wonderful day of exploring the delights of Nelson Mandela Bay what better way of unwinding than enjoying a sun downer on the deck of the Quarterdeck Bar whilst relaxing and watching the bay in all its splendour. And to complete the experience, our table, although international award winning, still retains the trappings of one of the best dining experiences that you will receive anywhere in the city at reasonable rates with quality home style cooking.

Our well appointed bedrooms have been decorated with pale golden parmarfin wood fittings and wardrobes, with cane furniture offsetting the colour and adding that classic touch that only cane can do. Our rooms are en-suite and are fitted with air conditioning, television, direct dial telephone, ceiling fans (controlled from the comfort of your bed), tea and coffee making facilities. Satellite television is available in the bar for those that want to keep up to date on world news or sporting events.

If you are tired and disillusioned with the modern sterile hospitality experiences where you are only a number and staff who have forgotten the value of the simple things in life such as a smile, then you need to treat yourself to this piece of paradise with people who really care about you.

Attractions

The amenities available in Port Elizabeth and the greater Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Area are unsurpassed. We are easily accessible by road, air and rail (the airport and railway station are a mere three kilometres from the hotel). Directly across the road from the hotel is the Blue Flagged Kings Beach with vast expanses of golden beach frontage and rolling lawns and a mere 750 metres from the hotel is the Blue Flagged Humewood Beach which is the gate way to the paradise of Happy Valley.

If fresh water is more your forte, then the Mac Arthur Swimming and Leisure complex is approximately 150 meters from the hotel offering a heated full size swimming pool, a natural temperature full size swimming pool, and a kids pool with water slides. This is a secure environment with access to Kings Beach and reasonable priced tickets are available at the hotel reception

A mere 500 meters from the hotel is Bay World which incorporates the Oceanarium with daily shows, a snake park with daily handling demonstrations, and the Port Elizabeth Museum where you can revel in the history of this vibrant and exiting Settler city.

One and a half kilometres from the hotel, you are able to transform your world at the Boardwalk Casino and entertainment complex. This complex is your one stop entertainment haven with casino, movie theatres, amphitheatre, ten pin bowling alley, children (and adults of a younger persuasion) entertainment area, shops, restaurants and pubs.

As a service to clients outings to a wide variety of destinations can be arranged with the aid of our competent hotel team. The Eastern Cape boasts the big five (Lion, Elephant, Buffalo, Cheetah, and Rhino) at a number of prime destinations, the cream of the crop being the world renowned Addo Elephant Park in a uniquely malaria free environment. Within easy reach are a number of tour options including excursions into the Garden Route, Graaff Reinet (Valley of Desolation), or the Settlers trip (Grahamstown, Bathurst, and Port Alfred). There are a number of local full day and half day outings within the Nelson Mandela Bay with new and unique options becoming available on a regular basis. You will never be able to get this close to nature in it’s true form as you will in the Eastern Cape, the gateway to the Garden Route and all it’s wonderful adventures.

In close proximity to the hotel are a number of sporting venues with the only true Links Golf Course in South Africa, the Humewood Golf Club, being a mere three and a half kilometres from the hotel. In and around Port Elizabeth are a number of eighteen and nine hole golf courses each with its own flavour and attraction. Port Elizabeth has in recent years become known as the water sport capital of South Africa with the Splash Festival taking pride of place every Easter. Recently added was the multipurpose stadium which has been built to host World Cup football games and remains as the definitive stadium of choice for most sporting disciplines into the future.

Whether it’s wide open sandy beaches, crashing waves, a protected pool, or a well deserved sundowner under a shady beach umbrella, the Humewood Hotel is your Mecca for fun and convenience.
